New single “Soldiers of the Universe” will be released on Sept. 8.
New album Good Day Good Night will be released on Oct. 6
Toronto, ON – David Deacon is a singer-songwriter, poet, former champion race car driver, painter, entrepreneur, and an example of how to live life fully.
Now in his 70s, Deacon’s fifth album, Good Day Good Night (due Oct. 6), is a collection of stories that reflect on the crashes and burns and dust-yourself-off recoveries we all experience in life. Known as
Toronto’s renaissance man, David’s gravelly voice and delivery has been compared to other great musicians such as Tom Waits, Robbie Robertson, Joe Cocker and even Louis Armstrong.
“Soldiers of the Universe” is the bluesy first single from the album with lyrics that are meditative and existential at the same time. It will be publicly released on all streaming platforms on Sept. 8.
“We are all soldiers of the universe. We will all fall, either in battle, by accident, or in age. The question is – is it a result of a personal attack of the universe on you, or is it made personal by your own concern for self?” said Deaon.
Musician Andy Ryan co-wrote, co-produced, mixed and played lead guitar on the track.
“With the broad streaming platforms that exist today, I am hoping that the strong local geographic following I had the last time around can turn into a broader following everywhere,” says David. “I would love to be playing for the next decade and figure, at this point, I’m sort of on house money.”
Good Day Good Night is available from Slammin Media and distributed worldwide by Believe.
