The evocative slogan “Taste the rainbow” has officially been around since 1994, and now pop artist Ana Pac has tweaked the phrase to imbue it with fresh, flirty, literal bite. Released just in time for PRIDE, “Bite The Rainbow” – available now – encourages a voracious appetite for authenticity, inclusivity, and acceptance.
“Bite The Rainbow” is, in Ana’s words, “an empowering song about shattering the boxes societal norms put us in.” “It’s about showing the world its infinite and limitless possibilities,” she says. “Respecting and celebrating true diversity.”
Starting with sparse, artistically disjointed beats, “Bite The Rainbow” tells the story of coming into one’s own, with a flirtatious bent: “I’m really tired of feeling shades of blue/ I can’t be straight when I think of you.” Soon, the song evolves into a melodic, Technicolor, booty-shakin’ dance jam for everyone on the gender spectrum – “Gender is so passé/ Binary is not the way/ We’re all born naked/ So just shake it, shake it, shake it.”
And though Pac encourages listeners to “Bite The Rainbow” with a sassy, sexy growl, she sings mostly in her signature crystalline and sincerely sweet style, urging us all to join together for a common cause.
“Whatever path you take, whatever you wear, whatever your style, hair, or music you blast, whatever interests you and drives you – all the pieces of you, that matter to you – have to be a reflection of THE REAL YOU,” Pac says. “Let our similarities and differences build better hearts and minds. Let LOVE rule!”
