Nicolás Mateo is an Argentine singer and composer, attracted by a folk search, marked in the author’s song with certain literature, flowing towards the frontality of neighborhood rock.
Born in Buenos Aires in June 1980, his musical search began early, at the age of fourteen, exchanging what would be the first guitar for a book. From those early compositions to those of today, Mateo appeals to abstract poetics that does not forget emotion.
His professional career is particular: as an actor being part of the success of a television program for teenagers and starring in an emblematic film for Argentine independent rock.
On the musical level, and in parallel to his work as an actor, he participated as a composer, singer and guitarist in his first group La moto, he released some “demo” albums on his own, he made his first live performances.
Later in duet with Mario González, he recorded his first studio album, the homonymous “Inventado antiguo”.
The following year, after the dissolution of the group, he decidedly began his solo career. Produced together with Diego Acosta, he publishes the album “Lever without gear”. Then he recorded in the mythical ION studio “The sensitive experience of Nicolás Mateo”, where he deepens the stripped and romantic song, and the hypnotic prose. This album will be officially presented at the Xirgu-Untref Theater, with a formation of congas, bass, electric guitar and violin.
With the arrival of a new album, comes the advance “Pichón”, a fanfare song with synthetic lyrics that takes his lyrics to a new level.
Mateo has been performing live for more than ten years, sharing dates with prominent local indie artists. It has the experience of outstanding performances such as the Lima Pop Fest (2016 edition), Xirgu-UNTREF Theater (Bs As), Open Folk (Barcelona), Discos El tesoro (Madrid) and many spaces for musical exchange such as Roseti, La casa del Arbol, Landran Sancho, Qi, EL quetzal, El universal, Mi casa, Korova, Naranja verde, Casa Rincón, Casa Unclan, Pura vida and La cigale, among others.
