The Bangerz Brass are Toronto’s Hip-Hop and Trap brass band, and they’re here to change the game. Bringing together 3 of Toronto’s hottest young MCs and a hurricane-force brass section, they just dropped their first single “Bangerz’ Delight”, a party mashup of hip-hop styles that defies convention. Their shows – filled with dance-offs, MC battles, singalongs and even mosh pits – are monthly sellout events in Toronto and have made them the city’s favourite party band. Montreal’s The Link newspaper describes the live experience: “An explosive and delirious show would be an understatement. The party…was pure distilled fun.” In just two years, the band has become so synonymous with live music in Toronto that the city’s own tourism magazine will feature them on the cover of their 2019 issue.
Bangerz was formed in 2017 when two veterans of the Toronto scene called up their favourite rappers and brass players and took to the streets. They played on corners and crashed hip-hop shows across downtown Toronto, and the scene soon spread across social media: three MCs equipped with megaphones, climbing trees and cars to rap over the crowd with the band laying down a thundering beat, horns in the air. The MCs have the kind of chemistry you can’t fake. Michael Morales, the master of ceremonies, holds it down while Ayrah Taerb the shaman and Morello the rockstar fly into the crowd and hype the party from the inside out. It didn’t take long for the word to get out, and the summer of 2018 had Bangerz in demand for every major festival in Toronto. With their first single “Bangerz’ Delight”, they’re ready to take it worldwide.
