Along with the original mix, written and produced by TS’s leader, John-Christian Urich, this release features a remix from Malachi.
Just in time for these trying times, Brooklyn-born, live, soulful, deep house trio, TORTURED SOUL, is keeping their promise to soothe our souls with some new music while continuing their presence on the road. First up is “Makin’ Me Better” – the first release since May 2015’s Hot For Your Love Tonight, it was written and recorded in Los Angeles while traversing such far reaches of the globe as South Africa and Kazakhstan.
Along with the original mix, written and produced by TS’s leader, John-Christian Urich, the release features remixes from Lea, Malachi, and Cryosis.
“Makin’ Me Better” features the signature deep house TS sound – effortless melodies stretching from baritone to falsetto over a four-on-the-floor, meticulously-crafted, jazz-tinged canvas with strokes of Prince in the arrangement.
Malachi has been going non-stop since 2000 collaborating with such luminaries as Stee Downes, The Shapeshifters, Ce Ce Peniston, and Barbara Tucker on legendary labels like Soulfuric and Defected. Here he transforms “Makin’ Me Better” into a chugging deep houser with 90s style shuffling, driving beats and funky bass. Perfect for the basement or late night, it’ll appeal to deep and tech people alike.
“Lea’s World Mix” is an intense deep house jam that draws “Makin’ Me Better” fully into the sub-bass realm and provides fresh heat to drop into any soulful, deep or afrohouse set. Lea is a Canadian, Brooklyn-based, house music artist and producer and has released works with notable labels such as Deep Culture Music, Soundmen on Wax, Exemplary Music Makerz, and Open Bar Music.
Cryosis, the upstart production duo from Mumbai, creates an uplifting main floor progressive banger that you’d expect to hear at a festival or club. It’s a perfect blend of TS’s soulful sound and their ultra modern sensibility.
