Monday September 25th Eddie and Quincy Bullen LIVE @ School of Creative and Performing Arts, Calgary
Join master musicians Eddie and Quincy Bullen for a powerful performance celebrating the relationship between a determined father and his talented son. Look and listen as two voices speak to the timeline of sacrifice, triumph, and the growth that occurs as one generation passes its knowledge onto the next. Father and Son Dueling Pianos takes the audience on a journey through masterful renditions honouring jazz, classical, calypso, and reggae music traditions — illustrating how Eddie prepared his son, Quincy, to understand and embrace their family history, the roots of music and the world’s great musicians.
Eddie Bullen immigrated to Canada from Granada in the 1980s, and has since worked with such Caribbean, Canadian, and American artists as Melba Moore, Byron Lee, Deborah Cox, and Dee Dee Bridgewater. His work has been heard on many channels including City TV, YTV, Love & Hip Hop (American Television Series), and Wine TV Australia. To date, Eddie Bullen has produced over 150 albums. He continues to embark on new ventures through his record company, Thunder Dome Sounds.
Quincy Bullen, following in the footsteps of his Juno Award-winning father Eddie Bullen, is an accomplished pianist, composer, producer, and singer. Quincy first performed at the Caribbean Sunfest Festival at the age of seven, and has since made appearances at the Toronto Jazz Festival, Beaches International Jazz Festival, Parti Gras at the Toronto Distillery District, and the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, as well as at various festivals in the Caribbean. Quincy is a founding member of the jazz band Quintessential Boys, and has also embarked on an acting career yielding him several principal roles both on screen and on stage.
